Having the right data is critical to avoid costly foreign material product contamination and product recalls. But data isn’t useful in its raw form. It requires further processing to extract critical insights and make useful connections. This is where PPO Insights comes in. A single PPO Smart Imaging System can generate upwards of 10 terabytes of data each day. Insights transforms the raw data generated by our AI engine into real-time, user-friendly reporting on the what, where and when of foreign material findings on production lines. Here’s the best part: PPO Insights just keeps getting better.

PPO Insights 2.5: What’s New and Why it Matters
Insights has come a long way since its introduction in 2021. Today, it’s a pioneering analytics platform that delivers a mobile- and web-friendly experience, streamlined discovery, an inbox approach to incident management, quick data entry, and two-click .csv data export for easy information sharing.
With the release of Insights 2.5 you get access to brand-new features designed to improve your user experience and optimize reporting. All wrapped in an updated interface that’s even easier to navigate and use.
1. Duplicate Timestamp Filter
What it does: Multiple detections within the same incident timeframe don’t always need to be recorded separately. For example, if a foreign material has been shredded in a grinder it may be distributed across your product. While this represents a single incident, earlier versions of Insights would record the areas of interest as separate incidents.
In Insights 2.5, the Duplicate Timestamp Filter combines all detections with the same timestamp into a single entry by default.

The interface uses a stacked icon in the incident list so it’s easy to identify combined incidents. You also have the option to disable the default from the Filter drop-down option.

Why it matters: Combining duplicate timestamp detections into one promotes cleaner foreign material incident reporting.
2. Archiving Incidents
What it does: You don’t need to include every incident in your reporting. For example, you might deliberately add foreign materials to a processing belt to test detection system efficacy or train new employees.
Now you have the freedom to archive these incidents, either individually or in bulk. These archived incidents will be removed from .csv exports, but they still exist in the database so you can still retrieve them by filtering.
Accidentally archiving an incident is no problem. Simply unarchive to ensure all relevant incidents are captured in your reporting.
Why it matters: You will no longer worry about irrelevant incidents impacting your data/reporting.

3. Classification Tagging
What it does: You can classify incidents into one of three categories. Classifications can be applied individually or in bulk and included in .csv exports.
- Valid detection – This classification indicates the detection of foreign materials or a quality issue.
- False detection – This classification indicates the detection of a non-quality issue.
- Test detection – This classification indicates the detection was related to verification or quality control.
Why it matters: Labeling incidents as Valid, False or Test continues to train the AI models in your Smart Imaging System to your unique plant conditions. This feature also gives you the power to assess trends over time more effectively (e.g., determine if false detections are on the rise).

4. Material Found
What it is: Instead of Insights providing a default “material found” you now have the freedom to manually identify which foreign material was detected.
Why it matters: Enjoy smoother workflows and more precise reporting that helps you focus on the incidents that matter to your operations.
