On November 16th, 2022, PPO and MeatingPlace Magazine presented a webinar titled, “How a Multi-Hurdle Approach With Visual Inspection Can Achieve Foreign Materials in Your Plant.” This webinar was moderated by Bill Kinkross, VP of Group Publisher (MeatingPlace Magazine), and presented by Amanda Lockheart, Quality Assurance Manager at Hormel Foods, and Doug Alexander, VP of Sustainability and Government Relations at Belmont Food Group.
Doug kicked off the webinar by explaining what PPO’s Smart Imaging System is and how it is unique. He then explains how hyperspectral imaging works and how it is different from other inspection methods like multi-spectral imaging. Lastly, he shows examples of how PPO can find plastic in spinach at line speed. Lastly, Amanda walks through how Hormel is using PPO’s Smart Imaging System as part of their multi-hurdle approach and was successful at eliminating foreign materials.
