The PPO team believes very strongly in supporting our local community. Many of our employees do volunteer work throughout the year. And each year we do a holiday fundraiser together. Over the past few years, PPO has supported Food4Kids Waterloo Region, a charity that provides nutritious food for children in Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge.
Food4Kids was a great fit for PPO. First: they focus on making sure there is healthy food on every table, something PPO is very focused on as well! Second – Food4Kids works with local families, so there was great alignment with many of our values.
Fundraising was a little different this year, but our team’s generosity was on full display. Many of us are working from home, so we couldn’t run events or challenges like we might have in the past. Instead, we worked with Food4Kids to set up an online link, and shared it out over Slack. We received a weekly update on our fundraising progress.
Our initial goal was to raise $1000 from our 30 person team. We exceeded that goal in the first week of the campaign! So we set our sights a little higher, aiming for $2500. We beat that target by the third week of December, and just kept going. Donations from the team came in right up to the end of December. PPO matched each donation from our team dollar for dollar. Together we raised a total of $4,630 for this very worthwhile charity!
We were thrilled to be able to help Food4Kids to feed the over 750 kids in Waterloo Region who are food insecure. And we’re incredibly proud of the generosity of our team.
